First you will need to download my FREE SVG Spotify Code Template (above)

Once you have received your template, start by opening Cricut Design Space and selecting “upload” on the left hand side of the screen.

Next you will select “upload image,” followed by “browse.”Find the SVG template that you have downloaded.

Now you will need to upload whatever image you have chosen to incorporate into your project.

Find the image you want to use and select it, then click “open”.

Now you should see in Cricut Design Space an area with “recently uploaded images’’.

For my shadowbox, I entered 8” for the width and 10.5” for the height.

We will create a shape with these dimensions in Cricut Design Space to use as a template so that you can visually see how to size your images to make sure they fit perfectly on your blank.

To do this, select “shapes” on the left-hand side of the screen in Cricut Design Space.Choose whichever shape best represents the shape of your blank.

I selected the square and then changed the dimensions by going to “size” at the top of the screen.

You will need to click the padlock to unlock the ability to change the proportions of the square.

Now enter whatever lengths apply to the size ofyour blank being used for the project.

Your content goes here. Edit or remove this text inline or in the module Content settings. You can also style every aspect of this content in the module Design settings and even apply custom CSS to this text in the module Advanced settings.

Be sure to click the padlock again to lock the proportions of your template so as to prevent inadvertently changing it.

Right-click the shape that has just been inserted onto your canvas and select

“send to back.”

I chose to change the color of the shape to white by going to the top menu bar and clicking the color box located between “Linetype” and “Fill”.

Make sure you choose whichever color provides the best contrast to the picture you are using.My picture is black and white, so the contrast of having a white template behind it made it much easier to see while working in Design Space.

You should now have a square that is set to the approximate dimensions of whatever object you are applying this to.So for me, I created a square with the dimensions of my shadowbox, which was 8” x 10.5”.We will use that shape to show us how to properly adjust the size of the Spotify SVG to fit on the shadowbox.

Click the Spotify template to where you see it has a blue highlighted square around it.

Next, select the handle located at the bottom right-hand side of the Spotify template to change its size to fit within the 8” x 10.5” shape.This handle is a light blue circle with two white arrows inside that are pointing outwards in opposite directions.

After sizing the SVG template to fit your project dimensions, you can delete the shape you inserted in step 4.

Resize your photo to fit within the top most square (highlighted in red) in the Spotify SVG template.

Select your photo and then drag it over to sit down within the template.The problem with our photo is that it is too big to fit perfectly within the template and has a small amount of overhang around it.

So you will need the “Slice” tool to cut off the edges going past the border of the Spotify template.

Go to “Shapes” on the left-hand side of the screen and select a square.Insert the square over the Spotify template and adjust its size to fit the borders of your template.

Click your template now and move it out of the way, leaving just the Spotify SVG and the most recently inserted shape.

Find “Slice” on the bottom right hand side of the screen and click it.

This feature will then act like a cookie cutter and slice between the 2 layers where they overlap.

The result means that the picture will be trimmed where it extends past the border of the Spotify template to clean up the edges of your project.

To get the “trimmed” version, remove the square you had placed over the picture and you can delete that.

Then click on the center of the picture and drag it out of the way.

You will see the perimeter of your picture that was sliced off, remaining behind… and you can now delete this.

Your picture should now fit perfectly inside the Spotify SVG template.

If you don’t have an account already, then you will need to create one.I was able to do this project without using the paid version of Spotify….

Can I Download Tunes From Spotify

So just remember the free version works just fine for this.

When the song loads, you will notice three white dots at the far right of the screen in the same row as the title of the song.

Click them and you should see one of the options listed as “Copy Song Link”.

Open a new tab in your browser and go to spotifycodes.com

Paste your Spotify URL code that you copied in the last step.

Change the format from JPEG to SVG on the right-hand side of the screen.

Now open Cricut Design Space back up and go to “Upload” on the left-hand side of the screen.

Select the SVG file you just downloaded from spotifycodes.com

You can save it in Cricut Design Space as the song title or whatever else you like.

Now after you save the SVG file, then you need to go to recently uploaded images and find it, select it, and then click on the bottom right-hand side of the screen where it says “insert images”

Select the Spotify SVG you have just inserted, and size it to fit within the empty rectangle…. below your picture that was inserted into this template earlier.

Go to the right-hand side of the screen where it shows the different layers of your project.Find the SVG file for the song that you just inserted, and scroll all the way down to where you see a black rectangle with “cut” next to it.

Next to this layer, you will see an icon of an eye….

Click this eye icon in order to “hide” this layer.

After you are satisfied with the spacing, click and drag the mouse to select what you have typed out and click “attach”.

By attaching all of the letters in the word, you will bring all the letters back into one layer, instead of individual layers for each letter.

The next step is entering the name of the artist.For this process, you simply repeat Step 13.Select a text box and type the name…

Select the letters and ungroup if necessary for spacing, followed by selecting the letters again and attaching them back.

Now select everything except the image by clicking and dragging over it.In order to make sure your Cricut cuts all of this out together as its seen in Design Space, you will need to click “attach” after having selected these elements.

Now you’re ready to click “Make It” at the top right-hand side of the screen.

Then select “continue” on the next screen at the bottom right-hand side.

Make sure your printer is correctly loaded with your printable vinyl.

On the next screen you should see “Send to Printer”.Click this.

In order to protect your project and make it last for years to come, we will cover the printed image with a clear matte UV laminate sheet.

Turn it face down over your image.Mark the corners of your image onto your laminate sheet and then cut a piece out to cover your printed image only….NOT THE REGISTRATION MARK AROUND THE IMAGE.

If you are having difficulty trying to trace around the corners of your image, then measure the dimensions of your picture and then use that as a guide to cut the laminate.

Cut the laminate sheet out and apply to your image before using your Cricut to cut.

Make sure not to cover the registration mark which surrounds the image and guides your Cricut cutting machine.

Apply the vinyl to the center of your image first, going outward.You can fold the laminate to create a “u” shape to do this….then use the bottom of the “u” to line up evenly with the center of the image first, applying it from the center outward.

Apply the sheet of printable vinyl with the laminate now applied, to your Cricut cutting mat.

Select the type of material you are cutting in Cricut Design Space. In order to do this, click “Browse All Materials” and then search for light cardstock.

Select it and continue.( For Explore Air users, you can simply turn the dial to light cardstock)

I left the pressure at default after doing my test cuts, but each machine is unique depending on the blade and how much use it has.Therefore I always encourage crafters to make a test cut of your own to make sure you have the correct settings.You will save a lot of time and headache by doing this.

Load your cutting mat into your machine by inserting it until you meet resistance.Press the button with arrows on it on your machine and the machine will finish loading the mat into the Cricut for you.

Now push the flashing Cricut button to begin cutting.Since this image has laminate applied to it, we will be cutting this twice.So when the Cricut finishes cutting, it will unload the mat the majority of the way.

Leave it in place and instead hit the Cricut button again when it finishes.

Now you can unload the mat and flip it over to peel the mat away from the vinyl.

Now you need to cut the permanent vinyl for your project.Go back into Cricut Design Space and find where it says “Material set to:” This should be at the top left of the screen.Now directly across on the right-hand side you will see a down arrow.Click this and go to “Browse all Materials”.Search for “premium vinyl” by typing it into the search bar at the top.Select this material and continue.

Now apply your material to your mat and send it through to the Cricut to be cut.

Since I used a shadowbox, I took the backing out of the box and flipped it over onto my cardstock that I wanted to use as a backdrop liner in it.Trace the outline of the backing and then cut it to fit within the shadowbox.Secure the cardstock on the inside of the shadowbox backing either by pinning it or gluing it.

Remove your vinyl from the Cricut when it finishes and weed as usual.

Apply your transfer tape to the vinyl after it is weeded, and slowly peel the backing paper away from the vinyl.

You can now apply the transfer tape with your cut vinyl stuck to it, on to the surface of the shadowbox glass.

Finally peel your printed image like a sticker and apply to the glass above the vinyl.
