I'm having all kinds of problems using Airplay to mirror my screen to my Apple TV 3rd Gen over my wifi network (I have a Cisco Meraki network). I have spent hours trying to troubleshoot the issue. Below is a list of symptoms and diagnostic steps
Scenario 1 :
- Enable airplay screen mirroring from macbook air, picture and sound very choppy. Unwatchable. Doesnt matter what I am doing, just showing my desktop and moving my mouse, or watching a movie, or streaming music from itunes.
Scenario 2:
- Change output device on my volume icon in my taskbar from internal speaker to my ATV.
- No video shared to screen (obviously).
- Sound very choppy.
- Happens regardless of app that is being used. Youtube,itunes,VLC..
Scenario 3:
- Disabled all airplay mirroring or speaker output settings
- Open itunes and start playing music
- From within Itunes stream music to ATV
- WORKS PERFECTLY!
Scenario 4:
- From my iphone - I stream youtube(audio and full HD video), spotify, music.
- WORKS PERFECTLY!
Diagnostic Steps-
- Updated ATV and Macbook to latest versions
- Changed output resolution of Airplay to 720 from 1080
- Hooked up an ethernet cable with gigabit connection - Same results
- Connected to 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Network
- Currently getting 527Mbps on my 5Ghz 802.11AC network with -90dBm noise
- ATV is connected directly to router through network cable
- ATV passes every network test
- I have a corporate quality wireless network with less than 0.001% loss
- My macbook Air Mid 2013 is an i7, 8Gb Ram (More than powerful enough)
- Tried installing a Airport Express as my router/access point with the same results
